Swim Lessons - Babies & Toddlers September 2025
YMCA Parent & Child Aquatics programs for Level A (Water Discovery) and Level B (Water Exploration) focus on introducing infants and toddlers to the water and developing comfort and confidence through guided play.
Parents actively participate, learning about water safety and supervision while their child explores basic aquatic skills.
A / Water Discovery - Wednesday
Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.
A / WATER DISCOVERY – this class is for students who do not respond to verbal cues or jump on land yet.
Parents accompany children, which introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment through exploration and encourages them to enjoy themselves while learning about the water.
B / Water Exploration - Wednesday
You’ll work with your child to explore body positions, floating, blowing bubbles and fundamental safety and aquatic skills. This class is for kids who aren’t yet comfortable working with an instructor without a parent in the water.
In this class, you’ll help your child:
- Blow bubbles with mouth and nose submerged in the water
- Move and float while blowing bubbles in the water
- Move and float with their head on your chest
- Roll from back to front and front to back
- Monkey crawl
- Enter and exit the water
