YMCA Safety Around Water (SAW) Program Overview
Purpose:
To help children learn fundamental water safety skills to prevent drowning and build confidence around water. The YMCA’s Safety Around Water program is a national initiative designed to teach children essential water safety skills and reduce the risk of drowning, especially for those in underserved communities.

Drowning is the second-leading cause of accidental death in children under 14.

Children who have formal swim lessons are 88% less likely to drown.
